Popova is among her country's foremost musicians.

Peter Hristoskov,the famous violinist and pedagogue

in Bulgaria, noticed Evgenia's talent at

a very early age and began coaching her in

Sofia . In her teens, Evgenia-Maria Popova became

a winner of numerous national and international

competitions and appeared as a soloist at

home and abroad.

After graduating with a gold medal from Sofia Music

School, Popova continued her studies as a student of the

Russian violinist and professor Leonid Kogan at the Moscow

Conservatory. Six years of inspiring work under Kogan's magnetic

influence and brilliant guidance! As a result Popova becomes a

top-prize winner of some of the most important violin contests -

“J.Thibaud”, “C.Flesch”, Montreal , to name a few.

Evgenia-Maria Popova has performed as a soloist in the most prestigious concert halls

all over the world. Her CDs of the Six Solo Sonatas by Ysäye (“Leman Classics”) and

the world premiere recording of the 24 Bulgarian Caprices by Peter Hristoskov, dedicated

to her (“Dynamic”), have been highly praised internationally (“The Strad”,

“American RecordGuide”, “CD Classica”).

Ms. Popova’s enormous repertoire includes all important works for the violin, her brilliant

integral performances of Beethoven, Bach, Reger, Schumann, Ysäye, Vivaldi

have won critical acclaim and prestigious prizes. Her latest artistic project – “Great

Concertos of the 20’th century” - six programs of the 1’st & 2’nd Violinconcertos by

Bartok, Prokofiev, Schostakovich, Szymanowsky,Vladigerov, and Hristoskov, had a resounding

success and was called historical by the press.

Evgenia-Maria Popova plays on a “G. Cappa–1691”, which belongs to the Bulgarian

State and was given to her for her outstanding achievements.
