Prof. PhD. Anelia Dimitrova Yaneva

Prof. PhD. Anelia Dimitrova Yaneva gratuated the Ballet Scool in Sofia in 1979 and Ballet staging and Choreography in the Rimski-Korsakov Conservatory in Sankt Peterburg (1986). She specialized in France in Grand opera, Paris, 1988. In 1992 A. Yaneva defended her PID thesis in the field of art criticism (her directors of studies were Prof., Dortor of science Vera Krasovska and Prof. Igor Belsky).

Anelia Yaneva realises her stagings in Sankt Peterburg, Stara Zagora, Pleven, Ruse and Sofia. Among them are the ballets „Death and Enlightenment“ music by R. Straus (1985), „The three musketeers“ by V. Bassner (1986), „The nightingale“ by T. Kogan (1987), „Night at the hill“ by Moussorg-ski (1987), „Petya and the wolf“ (1988, 1993), „Cinderella“ (1989) and „The prodigal son“ by Prokofiev (1989), „The Kiss“ by Poulenc (1989, 1991), „Cabaret“ by Cander (1989), dances in operas and operettas, ballet miniatures for concerts and competitions.

She is author of more of 50 research articles, more of 80 articles in the periodicals and 10 books dedicated, to the theory of the classical dance and the history of the Bulgarian ballet.

Film-portraits have been made for the television based on two of her books — „About Margarita Arnaudova with love“ (shown on 16.12.1995 on Efir 2 of the Bulgarian National Television) and „Asen Gavrilov — one movement“ (shown on 21.08.1996 on Channel 1 of the Bulgarian National Television). The screenplay and consulting are made by her.

Anelia Yaneva reads lectures on „History of the dance“ in the South West University „Neofit Rilski“ in Blagoevgrad, „History of the dance. Historical development of the ballet of the XX century“ in the National Academy of Theatre and Film Arts (NATFA), „History of the Bulgarian ballet“ and „Style directions in the ballet“ in the National Academy of Music „Pancho Vladigerov“ in Sofia; „History of the dance and music. Parallels“ in the New Bulgarian University.

Anelia Yaneva is Professor of choreography in the South-Western University in Blagoevgrad [since 2004]; Senior Research Fellow Second Degree, Rh.D. in the Sectoin „Musical theatre“ in the Institute of Art Studies [since 2000]; Scolarly Secretary in the Institute of Art Studies at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences [2004-2008].
